Child-Centred Learning

Dr Maria Montessori was born in Italy in 1870, twenty six years later she became the first woman to receive her doctorate in medicine at the University of Rome. She published many books on her method of education and lectured all around the world establishing the first Montessori classroom in London in 1931. She died in 1952. Since then her method of education has continued to grow around the globe.

The principles of Montessori are rooted in a social movement intended to champion the cause of all children, in all strata of society, of all races and ethnic backgrounds, within and beyond educational institutions.
